“Wow, what a week! I would greatly recommend this holiday to anyone who would like to paint in beautiful places. For me it was the breathtaking spots Marie our tutor took us too! The tutoring was spot on and very helpful, yet not too overwhelming, just perfect. The food... oh the food!!! A huge green light for this holiday! ”

Daily schedule on this painting holiday on the Amalfi Coast based in POMPEII (Typical schedule):
DAY 1 (Arrival): Meet up at the hotel in Pompeii with participants and the tutor Marie Remond at 6.00 PM. Evening welcome dinner with wine at a local restaurant in Pompeii at 7.00 PM. Introduction to the painting holiday. Upon arrival, you will be able to relax in good company!
DAY 2 Buffet breakfast at your own pace. Participative demo in the ruins of POMPEII with the tutor from 10.00 AM until noon. Lunch at a local restaurant in Pompeii. Afternoon painting session from 2.00 PM until 5.00 PM.
Walking through the ruins of Pompeii creates a sense of closeness to the past, as if the population had gone on holiday and was to return. The stillness of the streets, combined with the scale of preservation, invite quiet reflection on the fragility of everyday life.
About POMPEII: Pompeii was a thriving Roman city in southern Italy of which the daily routines were abruptly halted when nearby Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 CE, burying the city beneath layers of ash and volcanic debris within hours. This sudden destruction paradoxically preserved Pompeii, sealing buildings, objects, and even human traces in a way rarely seen in archaeology. Homes still display wall paintings, mosaics, and furniture, while streets reveal bakeries, taverns, workshops, and public baths, offering insight into social life, commerce, and class divisions. The city’s preserved graffiti, tools, and food remains allow historians to hear the voices and habits of ordinary people, not just elites. Exploring Pompeii today feels like entering a suspended moment, where time stopped but life remains vividly present. It is both a remarkable historical archive and a sobering reminder of how fragile human civilization can be in the face of natural forces.
DAY 3 Breakfast. Spectacular ferry ride to CAPRI island. Visit of Anacapri (one of the two towns on the island) with lunch and the afternoon spent painting at the highest point of the island, breathtaking MONTE SOLARO! Sensational views of Capri guaranteed! As an artist (even if you’re a beginner) you will never forget painting on Capri’s impressively highest mount with us!!! Dinner in Pompeii.
About Capri: Capri is an island situated a few kilometres from Sorrento in the Tyrrheanian Sea, on the South side off of the gulf of Naples in a region of Italy called Campania. The island is just over 10 km2 (4 square miles) with a population of 12000 people. It has hills and cliffs. Its highest point is Monte Solaro, with an elevation of 589 meters (1932 feet), where the tutor takes the group every year. There is a chair lift to get there from Anacapri (very slow and easy), and also a snack bar where you can enjoy the views with a drink.
Anacapri (town): Commune of Capri island and holds treasures such as Axel Munth’s Villa San Michele, gorgeous Monte Solaro, and Casa Rossa. All three are definite bucket list materials when visiting Capri!
Monte Solaro: This cliffy mount is hands down one of the most spectacular views on the planet (no exaggeration). It offers 360° views of Capri and the Italian mainland coast with a view of the Vesuvius volcano. A perfect place to paint.

About NAPLES: Naples is a dynamic and historic city in southern Italy, dramatically set along the Bay of Naples with the imposing Mount Vesuvius as a constant backdrop. Visitors can savour the legendary Neapolitan pizza (Naples is where pizza was invented) and explore a vibrant culinary scene that includes fresh seafood, pastries, and espresso bars. The city is steeped in history, offering an extraordinary array of cultural treasures, from centuries-old churches and royal palaces to museums filled with priceless art and archaeological finds. Beneath the streets, Naples’ underground tunnels and catacombs reveal layers of history and secret passages that tell stories of the city’s ancient and medieval past. Combining lively street life, historic architecture, and a rich cultural and gastronomic heritage, Naples offers visitors an immersive Italian experience that is both unforgettable and full of energy.
NATIONAL ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEUM: Visitors to Naples can visit this extraordinary museum which houses many of the priceless artifacts excavated from the ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
About AMALFI: Amalfi is a charming coastal town on Italy’s famous Amalfi Coast, known for its dramatic cliffs (no climbing while there), colourful buildings, and sparkling Mediterranean waters. Once a powerful maritime republic, it retains a rich history visible in its stunning cathedral, ancient streets, and historic landmarks. The town is famous for its scenic beauty, lemon groves, and local crafts, making it a delight for photographers, culture enthusiasts, and of course artists! Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls along the waterfront, sample fresh seafood, or take boat trips to explore nearby coastal villages and hidden coves, making Amalfi a truly memorable destination.

DAY 5 Breakfast followed by a free morning. Lunch in Pompeii. Early afternoon train to the sister ruins of Pompeii: HERCULANEUM (20 minutes). Sightseeing, followed by an afternoon painting session at Herculaneum.
About HERCULANEUM: Herculaneum is an ancient Roman town situated along the Bay of Naples in southern Italy, known in antiquity as a refined and prosperous seaside community. In AD 79, it was suddenly destroyed by the violent eruption of Mount Vesuvius, which unleashed scorching volcanic surges that buried the city in thick layers of ash and mud. This unique burial process preserved Herculaneum in extraordinary detail, including multi-story buildings, wooden beams, doors, furniture, and even organic materials rarely found at other Roman sites. The town was home to wealthy Romans who built luxurious villas, public baths, and richly decorated houses overlooking the sea, reflecting a high standard of living. Forgotten for centuries and rediscovered in the 18th century, Herculaneum provides historians and visitors with an unusually intimate view of daily life in the Roman world. Today, its remarkably intact streets and interiors make it one of the most valuable archaeological sites for understanding ancient Roman society, and for painting!
DAY 6 Breakfast. Free morning followed by lunch in Pompeii and another fabulous painting session in the ruins of POMPEII. Walking through the ruins feels like stepping into a silent city where everyday life was suddenly frozen in time while the streets, homes and shops still echo past human presence. This gives a powerful mix of awe and melancholy, as the intimacy of extraordinary details makes the past feel hauntingly close and deeply human and familiar.
During our last painting holiday in POMPEII.
DAY 7: Breakfast. Mid morning train to famous SORRENTO, known for its fabulous Limoncello! Upon arrival, you will have time to shop/sightsee before lunch in the city centre. In the afternoon, a beautiful painting session by the water.
About SORRENTO: Sorrento is a picturesque town on Italy’s Amalfi Coast, overlooking the sparkling waters of the Bay of Naples. Famous for its stunning sea views, lemon groves, and charming historic centre, it has long been a favourite destination for travellers seeking beauty and relaxation. The town is renowned for producing Limoncello, a vibrant lemon liqueur. Visitors can tour local shops and orchards to experience this tradition firsthand. Strolling through its narrow streets, you will discover quaint cafes, artisan boutiques, and historic churches, while the marina offers opportunities for boat tours, water sports and painting! With a perfect blend of natural beauty, culture, and gastronomy, Sorrento offers a quintessential Italian coastal experience.
DAY 8: Breakfast and morning goodbyes. Please note that your tutor will say goodbye the evening before.
Special note: The use of easels (for acrylics or oils) is not offered on this art trip as it is not allowed in Pompeii or Herculaneum.
