Although this painting holiday is not specifically designed to be an art holiday for singles, who never know when meeting another artist could be just right?! Join us as and lose yourself in art in world-renown VENICE for a fabulous week painting in its very heart.

What's included in our 2024 and 2025 Venice painting holidays?

Tutoring from a talented tutor, in a small group, exclusively in 100% Venice and its islands. Learn or improve composition, colour dynamics, values, perspective and more. The tutor (Marie Remond) knows the area and also gives plenty of one-to-one tutoring with onsite demos when needed and desired.

• Art materials are provided. Paper, paintbrushes/pencils, paints, small accessories like tape etc.

• Equipment is provided on this Venice art vacation. Board and stool, optional easel.

• Accommodation: 7 nights in a SINGLE ENSUITE room at a comfortable hotel (2024 Mestre).

• All restaurant meals with wine at dinner included (except on the free day) OR Breakfast Only option.

• Vaporetto (water bus) pass included starting the first day of painting outings. The pass also includes bus tickets to get to Venice (15 minutes).

Typical TRIP SCHEDULE - VENICE PAINTING HOLIDAY

• DAY 1: A warm welcome to Venice! Meet up at the hotel is at 6.00 PM. Dinner at a local restaurant with an introduction to the painting holiday. Let the fun begin!

DAY 2: Breakfast. Mid-morning demo for beginners at watercolours (recommended medium). More experienced artists or artists using other mediums will be free to test their materials out on a still life or paint from a photo they will have chosen. Lunch at a restaurant. The group will then be off for a painting session in Venice for a first full artistic immersion. Not to worry, we always choose places where we are part of the decor.

DAY 3: Breakfast. Late morning sightseeing at the RIALTO BRIDGE, one of Venice’s most famous landmarks. Its shops and views of the canal will be a grand enchantment. Lunch there. Afternoon painting session near the very typical Venetian MERCATO DI RIALTO; a fish, fruit and vegetable market. Dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 4: Breakfast. Morning sightseeing in the heart of Venice’s SAINT MARK'S SQUARE, a jewel within a jewel! You will be able to take photos on the famous BRIDGE OF SIGHS. ACCADEMIA BRIDGE and its Venice postcard views that our guests absolutely love! Lunch. The tutor will then lead the group to our painting spot near SANTA MARIA DELLA SALUTE CHURCH on the Grand Canal to paint the fabulous view of San Mark’s Square or near-by boats and gondolas. Free time. Why not take the opportunity to visit the Peggy Guggenheim museum (optional)? Dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 5: Breakfast. FREE DAY to shop, sightsee, and get joyously lost in Venice!!! No meals except for breakfast on the free day.

DAY 6: Breakfast. Excursion to the island of MURANO, famous for its glass-blowers. We will watch a glass-blowing demonstration, then everyone will be free to walk around and shop on Murano island. After that fun morning, we will be off to close-by BURANO island for lunch at a sea-food sit down snack restaurant by the water. Afternoon painting on the world famous island. Burano is a treasure known for its colourful houses nested among the Venetian islands. Back to Venice around 6 PM. Dinner.

DAY 7: Breakfast, free morning to shop, wander around Venice. Lunch. The afternoon’s art session will be spent in the lovely and quiet area of the VENICE ARSENALE where the group will paint all afternoon until about 4.30 PM. Free time. Dinner at a local restaurant.

• DAY 8: Breakfast and goodbyes. Holiday ends at 10 AM.

Mobility: No need to be an athlete to join this holiday, but there is walking to be done in Venice. You must be able to walk at a normal pace. If you walk slowly or have mild mobility issues, please choose another holiday, like Tuscany. If you are generally relatively fit, you can skip this part.

Test: I can walk 20 minutes at a time and climb one or two flights of stairs without it being strenuous.

Welcome to our Venice painting holiday workshop and to the world’s most captivating 17th century setting, where the streets are made of water.

Breathe in Venice and... breathe it out slowly. Paint Venice in its very heart for the whole of your holiday. Our fabulous Venice excursions include close-by Venice islands Burano and Murano. 

We offer a painting /drawing open-air class in Italy, in one its most remarkable, ageless and timeless cities. Small group of like-minded people. Beginners to advanced levels welcome. 

Anyone who’s ever been to Venice has never forgotten it. As soon as you step into it, you are under a spell of enchantment, where even the light seems different.  It is far from being sappy or over-rated. It is simply a painter’s absolute paradise, where what seems to be allusion or allurement is actually real life. You’ll easily imagine Casanova or Canaletto taking gondola rides on the canals, or crossing bridges, their capes flowing, taking in the beauty of the famous Piazza San Marco, Rialto Bridge and many other landmarks. Being there, painting and sight-seeing, you are guaranteed to feel that you're an exciting part of it. Venice embraces its visitors. Painters of course leave with their personal art work, but also their heads full of fantastic memories. Non-painters are never bored, and always wish they could stay much longer to see it all! 

Venice is also about relaxation and culture. Our small Venice painting holiday group takes time to enjoy every morsel of the holiday. Our schedule is not set in stone. We have flexible rounded guidelines. 

How do we get around? With your weekly Venice Pass by vaporettos (hop-on hop-off bus boats) and by walking. Lots of tiny streets in Venice (some funnily narrow!) and quite a few mini bridges with steps on them to cross tiny canals. On Venice art holidays, you will need to be able to walk at a normal pace.

What if I'm a beginner, won't Venice be too complicated to paint or draw? No, the tutor will have you concentrate on fewer subjects and take it one step at a time.

About group lunches and dinners: Meals are included except on the free day. The first meal is dinner on Day 1. The last meal of this painting holiday is breakfast on Day 8.

About the excursions: Our “plein-air” painting holidays have fun outings. Excursions on this Venice holiday are special day trips where we'll head out a bit farther into the Venetian islands: Burano and Murano.

• Burano is a small Venetian island known for its colourful houses and is delightful to paint!

• Murano is a world renown island known for its talented glass blowers. Those wishing to shop or visit a glass factory will be able to do so.

Let's not take the ZEN out of Azenart! It's your well-earned Italian painting break, and you've earned it! Your tutor will lead the art group to picturesque sites every day. If you are a beginner, you will learn basic techniques. The tutor is there to guide with plenty of one-to-one help. If you're a confirmed artist on this painting trip in Venice, the tutor is there to answer any questions you might have. You will probably also learn new things! Sketching and painting/drawing is planned outdoors, in the heart of the art. If weather conditions make that difficult, there are always fun indoor alternatives.  

What about materials? It’s provided! (Please note that easels are an optional £30 rental for the week.

We'll be doing watercolours. That is the medium we recommend, especially if you are a beginner. You can also choose drawing or gouache. More experienced artists can also choose acrylics, pastels, or oils. Please note that oil painters will be required to bring a wet canvas carrying case and will be asked to be extra careful in the accommodation (staining).
